Australia v England

1910 in Australia
1st Test - 18 June : lost 20-27 / Sydney Showground (42,000)
2nd Test - 2 July : lost 17-22 / Brisbane Exhibition Ground (18,000)

Chris McKivat (Glebe)The arrival of the England team in Australia gave the local game a much needed boost. The English were led by Salford centre Jim Lomas. The Australians were thought to have a good chance at winning the series via the horde of Wallaby defectors to the League at the end of 1909 - Chris McKivat (Glebe), Bill Farnsworth (Newtown), John Hickey (Glebe), Charles ‘Boxer' Russell (Newtown), Bob Craig (Balmain) and John ‘Towser' Barnett (Newtown).

Australia, captained by Dally Messenger, again wore sky blue jerseys while the English played in red and white hoops. The tourists were very popular and attracted huge crowds to their games and rugby league. The Australians competed well in both tests but the power and skill of the Englishmen was a class above and they won the series 2-0.
