I spent much of the last part of 2006 researching and writing for a forthcoming book on Dally Messenger.

Co-authored with Messenger's grandson (Dally III) "The Master" provides a completely fresh (and factual) account of Dally M's footballing feats, and his place and influence as "Australia's first sporting superstar".

In researching for the true story, nothing was used unless it was written by Dally M himself, from match reports and newspapers of the day (Aust, NZ & UK), and by those who witnessed events themselves.

Everything written later has been ignored - this book (over 100,000 words) relies totally on first-hand accounts. Some myths are dispelled, others - including many of the seemingly impossible-to-believe ones! - are proven to be true.

You will be able to read for yourself reports of Messenger in action, along with his own words, comments and opinions. You can re-live the on-field action and off-field controversy from a century ago, and confirm for yourself whether Dally M was truly "The Master".
